Street Dance colleges?

March 14, 2016

Street Dance colleges are tough to find. Most of the time Street Dance is incorporated by dance colleges that also teach acting and singing. That’s all fine if you have the talent across dancing, singing and acting, but not so cool if you’re looking for specialist Street Dance colleges!

Street Dance is actually an umbrella term
Street Dance, as we know it, is actually an umbrella term that covers a wide range of different dance styles. It is true to say that Street Dances originated ‘in the street’, but there isn’t a specific style or Street Dance move. We are one of the few dance colleges in the UK to teach a full range of Street Dance styles.

Street Dance embraces many styles
Street Dance covers a range of different styles of dance. The following is a list of Street Dances that are covered in the commercial dance courses that we offer here at Dance College London:

  • B-Boying
B-Boying includes moves like the Indian Step, 3-step, Double Breather, Russians, Backspin and the Chair Freeze.
  • Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance moves include everything from the 2-step, Cabbage Patch, Robocop, Roger Rabbit and the Janet.
  • House
House Dance moves include the Crossroads, Heel-Toe, Pas de Bourrée, Jack in a Box and the Skate.
  • Krumping
Krumping is primarily a Freestyle Dance that incorporates Jabs, Arm Swings, Chest Pops and Stomps.
  • Locking
Locking moves include the Cartoon Head Turn, Scoo B Doo, Skeeter Rabbit, Pimp Walk and the Scoobot.
  • Popping
Popping involves moves such as the Walk Out, Fresno and Neck O’Flex that includes Arm Pops, Leg Pops, Chest and Neck Pops.
